Putting GoToMeeting Videos In Your Blog

by Tate on February 7, 2011

I had a problem getting some of the videos from GoToMeeting to load into Camtasia or any other program for editing (even with the wmv codec), so after doing some searching I came across the solution.

I thought I would share that and how to get Windows Media Videos to play in your blog.

The free Expression Encoder will allow your to re-encode your video. It not only lets you fix the GoToMeeting codec problem it also functions as a basic video editor, this means you can make your changes and then save the edited recording all in one go!

Of course you may want to do more than make simple edits, maybe add some music or splice in some additional video at which point you are going to want an application like Camtasia.

Adding the video to your blog

I use a plugin called WP Media Player

WP Media Player is a Silverlight based media player plugin for WordPress. It is used for playing self-hosted video files as well as for videos hosted on external video servers, for example the S3 cloud. The plugin has the following features:

6 player styles

Watermark Image

Tracking and reporting on how many times the videos have been watched

Default player configuration settings, such as size, thumbnail, auto load and auto play.

Per-instance player configuration settings that can be used to customize each individual player within or across blog posts.

Unlimited number of players within the same blog post or page.

A user interface for video uploading and selecting of media files that is fully integrated into the WordPress post editing UI.

Plugin Usage Instructions

The plugin is very easy to use. Follow these three simple steps:

Step 1: Click on the “Silverlight Video” button:
Add Silverlight Video
Step 2: Choose video file to upload or a URL with a video content (note: video must be in WMV format)
Upload media file
Step 3: Insert the video into a blog post or a page
Insert Video

VPS and dedicated servers for ScrapeBox

I plan on starting a website that will gain a lot of users over time. . . Should I start out on shared hosting and then upgrade to a virtual private server? . . Or is there another way to go about this? . . I assume that my website will be small at first but through time it will grow.

Is this process also true to other blog platforms? It seems like the screen shots show a WordPress interface.
